FAQ

Q: Why my NetPeeker does not show any process?

A: Please frist make sure your NetPeeker is not the "cracked" one. I know there is a crack out there, but it doesn't work. It just shows you the "registered" word, not really funtions, the process list will be empty. If your copy is not cracked one, here is one workaround: Change your registry value:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\NetPeeker\Start
from 1 to be 3.

If it doesn't work, please do following to help me fix this bug:

1. Install the latest version.
2. Create a new file named "NPTRACE.LOG" under windows directory:
for Win98/ME/XP, it will be "C:\WINDOWS" by default.
for WinNT/2000, it will be "C:\WINNT" by default.
By default windows will not show the file extension, so please make sure the file name is "NPTRACE.LOG", not something like "NPTRACE.LOG.TXT".
3. Reboot and then start NetPeeker.
4. After you see the main windows which shows empty process list. go to windows directory, zip the "NPTRACE.LOG" and send it to me. (support@net-peeker.com)
5. Delete the log file after this, or it will grow fast and eat up your disk space.

Q: How to manually uninstall NetPeeker?

A: In normal case, uninstall through "Add/Delete Program" from Contral Panel will do all things for you. In case that something happened, please do the following to manually uninstall it:
1. Delete directory where you install NetPeeker.
2. Delete driver file:
    For Win2000/NT, it is C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\NETPEEKER.SYS
    For WinXP,         it is C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\NETPEEKER.SYS
    For Win98/ME,    it is C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\NetPkr.vxd
3. Delete registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Ming Jin\NetPeeker
4. For Win2000/NT/XP, delete the registry key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\NetPeeker
5. For Win98/ME, remove line "Driver=NetPkr.vxd" in file C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM.INI
6. For Win2000/NT/XP, search string "PNP_TDI" inside registry tree:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services. For every instance found, look the "DependOnService" value, delete string "NetPeeker" if any. (To remove single string from a REG_MULTI_SZ type, it's better to use regedt32.exe)
7. Then, send me a email telling me why you don't like NetPeeker :(

Q: After I installed NetPeeker, I cannot access some website. The page looks strange.

A: Because the Popup killer works by insert control script into html content, in a few cases if the html page itself have some bug script (unpaired script tag), popup killer may cause the page blank. In these case, you can add such website into skip list. If you enabled "Disable document.write" option for popup killer, some website may appears weird. You can check this when you feel something wrong.

Q: Is NetPeeker a spyware or ad-ware?

A: NetPeeker contains no spyware or adware. In two cases NetPeeker itself need to access Internet: when you enable "check update" or when you use WHOIS function. In first case, it will access www.net-peeker.com to get latest update information; in the second case, it will access some whois server such as whois.arin.net.

Q: I cannot see the transfer speed when someone inside internal network download file from my computer.

A: Because NetPeeker work on the layer above of NDIS, it cannot monitor some NETBIOS traffic, so you will not see speed when you copy file through network share folder. This issue will be addressed in future release.
